Altoona-Blair County Airport Sees Passenger Numbers Soar |
New Charlotte Route Drives Record Growth and Community Engagement |
In 2025, the Altoona-Blair County Airport (AOO) experienced a remarkable surge in passenger traffic, marking a significant milestone in its history.
On October 1, 2024, Contour Airlines launched daily non-stop jet service to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), a move that was enthusiastically embraced by the community.
Travelers from across Central Pennsylvania have flocked to AOO to take advantage of this new route, finding it invaluable for both leisure and business connections to the Carolinas.
Additionally, Contour's seamless interline agreements with major carriers like American Airlines, United Airlines, and Alaska Airlines at CLT have opened up a plethora of domestic and international destinations for AOO passengers.
This strategic shift has propelled AOO's passenger numbers to their highest levels since 2002.
Airport Manager Tracy Plessinger expressed his excitement, stating, "We are thrilled to bring CLT service to Central Pennsylvania. It's gratifying to see the community's positive response."
He highlighted the benefits of Contour's reliable and affordable service, combined with the airport's free parking, easy access, and short TSA lines, which contribute to a stress-free travel experience.
Plessinger also noted that many passengers enjoy dining at La Fiesta Mexican Grille and Bar or grabbing a quick bite at Coffee Coop before their flights.
Additionally, the airport's Avis/Budget car rental services have seen increased utilization, catering to the needs of inbound travelers.
Tickets for AOO's CLT service can be booked through Contour Airlines' official channels, as well as through major airline partners.
