Amtran's 'Stuff the Bus' Drive Aims to Combat Hunger in Altoona |
Community Encouraged to Donate Non-Perishable Items During Holiday Parades |
Amtran is spearheading a heartfelt initiative this holiday season to support local families facing food insecurity.
The transit authority is organizing its fourth annual "Stuff the Bus" food drive, coinciding with the upcoming Altoona and Tyrone Christmas Parades on Saturday, December 6.
Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to contribute to the cause.
"We're always striving to enhance our community in every possible way," said driver Jamey Rickens.
"Whether it's through our services helping people get to work or medical appointments, it's part of our core values.
This initiative is an extension of that commitment.
Many are in need, especially during this time of year."
Donations will benefit local organizations, including the Altoona Food Bank, the Tyrone Food Bank, and the Mt. Lion Backpack Program.
Additional contributions are stored at Amtran's headquarters, stocked with essentials like canned soup and macaroni and cheese.
This event follows a successful two-day food drive held in October at Martin's Grocery Store locations in both Altoona and Tyrone.
Amtran's ongoing efforts underscore their dedication to community welfare and support during the holiday season. |
