Community Effort Launched to Upgrade Blair County Dog Park Fencing

Volunteers seek donations to improve safety and replace aging infrastructure

The Blair County Dog Park Association has announced plans to replace the park’s 12-year-old fencing, citing growing safety concerns caused by years of wear and seasonal freeze-thaw damage. The current fencing, which encloses roughly five of the park’s ten acres, has become increasingly unreliable and in need of full replacement.

The volunteer-led board has been actively pursuing grant funding, but the estimated $30,000 project will also rely heavily on community support. As a nonprofit, privately operated park, the organization receives no government funding and is sustained entirely through donations and modest membership fees of just $6.25 per month.

To help offset costs, the association is offering sponsorship opportunities. Community members and local businesses can sponsor a fence section for $100 or a gate for $500, with each contribution recognized by a custom metal sign displayed for at least five years.

Donations are tax-deductible and can be mailed to the Blair County Dog Park Association, c/o Bonnie Risser, Treasurer, P.O. Box 191, Martinsburg, PA 16662.

The park continues to thrive thanks to volunteer management and generous community support, following past successful improvements such as the renovated entrance. Read More
