After 15 years of dedicated service, Taylor steps down to focus on family and health |
Mark Taylor, the longstanding Director of Public Safety for Blair County, has announced his retirement after a commendable 15-year tenure.
Beginning his career as a 911 coordinator, Taylor's dedication saw him rise through the ranks of the Emergency Management Agency, culminating in his leadership role.
His extensive experience also includes service with the Saxton Fire Department, where he continues to serve as assistant chief.
Reflecting on his career, Taylor expressed, "It's been a rewarding journey. Not everyone gets to do what they love, and I've been fortunate to have a passion for emergency services, making a difference and helping others."
In recent years, Taylor spearheaded initiatives to revitalize the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), aiming to bolster community preparedness and resilience.
His leadership was also pivotal in addressing staffing challenges within the 911 Center, ensuring that performance standards were maintained despite personnel shortages.
As he steps away from his professional duties, Taylor looks forward to spending quality time with his family and embracing his role as a grandfather.
