In Blair County, the energy around back-to-school season is unmistakable, as local groups respond to the need for school supply donations with renewed determination.

This summer, a school supply drive is stepping up to relieve families facing mounting costs for back to school supplies.

Residents throughout Altoona and surrounding towns are being asked to contribute notebooks, backpacks, and pencils—items that can make a world of difference for students eager to head back to class fully prepared.

With inflation impacting household budgets, the community’s support feels more important than ever.

Local organizations have set up convenient drop-off boxes at several well-traveled locations, making it easy for neighbors to participate.

Parents say every donated backpack or pack of markers helps their kids start the semester strong and removes some of the stress that comes with August’s shopping lists.

Recent reports highlight the area’s growing commitment to ensuring no child feels left out on the first day of school.

Efforts like these are drawing new volunteers and sparking conversations about long-term support for education in Blair County.

While the drive winds down soon, anyone wishing to help can still make a meaningful difference by donating essential school items now.

Donations can be brought to a United Way labeled box at the Blair County Chamber in the lobby of the Devorris Center for Business Development at 3900 Industrial Park Drive, Altoona.

Wish these drives went all year, not just August. The need doesn’t really stop after the first day.

I remember shopping for supplies was always stressful for us growing up. Happy to donate a few things this year.

Glad to see Altoona stepping up! Every little bit helps the kids feel ready to learn.
