Blair County's Gentle Halloween: Park Fun and Pumpkin Days |
Del-Ghoul-So's and a nearby farm offer alternatives to haunted houses |

Not every Halloween memory needs a jump scare. For Blair County families who would rather enjoy costumes, a pumpkin search or a leisurely afternoon together, the remaining October weekends offer another route through the season. DelGrosso's Park in Tipton has family Halloween dates ahead, while JB Tree Farm near Alexandria provides another farm option.
Del-Ghoul-So's continues October 17–18 and 24–25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The park describes select rides, entertainment and fall foods. Its October 24–25 page lists a $20 entry pass per person, with children under 24 months admitted free; check the page for your chosen weekend before buying.
This is a gated Halloween event, so accompanying adults need admission even if they will not ride. The park prohibits picnicking for the event. Costumes are welcome subject to its rules, including restrictions on costume masks and on loose or oversized pieces while riding. Review the full policy before choosing an elaborate outfit.
Decide what kind of day you want
A park outing works best when you choose a few priorities rather than trying to fit everything into one visit. Ask children whether they are most excited about a ride, a character or simply wearing a costume somewhere special. That answer can help shape a manageable afternoon.
For a family paying several admissions, set the total spending limit before arrival. Include food and optional purchases in the conversation. A clear plan makes it easier to enjoy a treat without turning every new stand into another decision.
A nearby farm alternative
At JB Tree Farm, the Fall Frenzy 2026 page lists corn-maze, hayride and play-area wristbands, plus pumpkin-patch access. The farm is at 8100 JB Tree Farm Lane, Alexandria. Plan the drive to the Alexandria-area farm separately from a visit to Tipton, and check the route before departure.
The farm lists regular admission at $12 for ages 10–61 and $8 for ages 4–9 and adults 62 and older; ages three and younger are free. Its page gives Friday and Saturday hours of noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday hours of 1 to 7 p.m. Confirm current conditions and any additional pumpkin costs before traveling.
Daylight can be the attraction. If your children enjoy choosing a pumpkin more than navigating a maze, build the visit around that. A family does not have to purchase every available activity to create a seasonal tradition.
Make the most of a simple plan
Bring shoes appropriate for the activity, check the organizer's weather updates and allow enough travel time that nobody starts the day feeling rushed. Ask about accessibility and facilities directly if those details will determine whether the outing works for your group.
At home, give the pumpkin a second chapter. Let children sketch a face, choose a silly name or decide where it will sit for a family photograph. Those are easy ways to extend the outing without another ticket or shopping list.
Choose one confirmed destination, then leave some breathing room. The remaining weekends do not need to become a Halloween marathon. A daytime park visit or a nearby farm afternoon can provide exactly the kind of low-pressure celebration your family wants.
Before adding the outing to a shared family calendar, send everyone the same organizer link. That small step helps relatives compare the same details and makes a later change easier to communicate.

Good tip about checking the costume rules before heading to Tipton. My daughter's outfit has a big cape, so we'll plan around that.
Glad that tip helped! A big cape is worth checking against the park’s rules for loose or oversized costume pieces while riding, so you can plan the outfit before you go.
Does anyone know which rides are open for Del-Ghoul-So's? I'd like to check before promising the kids their favorites.
My kids usually spend more time picking a pumpkin than doing anything else. A simple farm afternoon sounds about right for us.
Leah M.Same with mine. Last year they debated pumpkins for half an hour, then named them on the ride home.
Twenty dollars each adds up quickly for a family. We may try JB Tree Farm instead, even with the drive to Alexandria.
The reminder that adults need a ticket at DelGrosso's is helpful. I would have missed that when figuring out our cost.
