Community gathers April 1 to raise funds and awareness for victims of abuse |
The 9th Annual Purple Purse fundraiser returns to the Blair County Convention Center on April 1, inviting the community to an evening that blends fashion, fun, and philanthropy. Doors open at 5 p.m., and attendees can expect raffles, prizes, and an expanded lineup of designer purses—all supporting local survivors of abuse. Hosted by Family Services Inc., the event benefits the organization’s Victim Services Program, which assists survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes across Blair County. Program Director Ashley Gay Vocco shared that nearly 1,000 individuals received support last year—evidence that demand for these vital services remains high. This year’s event will welcome a guest speaker addressing the challenges victims face when seeking justice, as well as special guest Morgan Koziar, adding a familiar face to the cause. The Purple Purse Gala is more than a fundraiser—it’s a statement of solidarity. Tickets are available at familyservicesinc.net or through FSI Victim Services on Facebook. For anyone needing help or guidance, Family Services Inc. offers a 24-hour hotline at 814-944-3585. |
