As Lent approaches, numerous organizations in Blair County, Pennsylvania, are preparing for their annual fish fry events, offering a variety of delicious options for the community.
**Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona** On Ash Wednesday and every Friday during Lent (excluding Good Friday), the Cathedral will host a drive-thru fish fry from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For $12, attendees can enjoy a fish sandwich accompanied by mac & cheese and coleslaw.
**Our Lady of Lourdes, Altoona** Every Friday, including Good Friday, Our Lady of Lourdes offers a menu featuring baked or fried haddock, with sides like French fries or macaroni & cheese, applesauce, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, dessert, and beverages. Meals are priced at $16.
**Saint Joseph, Williamsburg** Fish fry events are scheduled for Sunday, March 1st, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Friday, March 27th, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
**Saint Patrick, Newry** Renowned for its Famous Lenten Seafood Buffet, Saint Patrick's will serve every Friday during Lent, including Good Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the school hall at 731 Patrick Ln., Newry.
**Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, Altoona** Every Friday during Lent (except Good Friday) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saint Therese offers meals for $15, including baked or fried fish, a choice of French fries or mac and cheese, coleslaw or applesauce, a roll, and a homemade dessert. Both dine-in and take-out options are available.
**Excelsior Fire Company, Bellwood** From 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays through Good Friday, Excelsior offers meals for $15, featuring choices of fried fish, baked fish, shrimp, or chicken tenders. **Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Company** Serving from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays through Good Friday, Pinecroft offers a seafood platter for $15, including a fried fish filet, shrimp, and scallops with two sides and a roll. Other meal options are available for $14, featuring beer-battered fish, baked fish, or chicken tenders, with a choice of two sides and a roll. Desserts are $2, and extra sides are $4. Sides include French fries, stewed tomatoes, mac and cheese, and coleslaw.
**Phoenix Volunteer Fire Department, Hollidaysburg** Operating from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays from March 7 until April 18, Phoenix offers dinners for $14, including choices of baked or fried fish, shrimp, and chicken strips. All meals come with French fries, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, a roll and butter, and dessert.
**Second Avenue Global Methodist Church, Altoona** Hosting an all-you-can-eat buffet from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Fridays during Lent (except Good Friday), the buffet is priced at $17 for adults, $14 for seniors 65 and older, and $12 for children under 10. Single take-out meals are available for $14. The menu includes baked and fried fish, shrimp poppers, crab patties, French fries, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, dinner rolls, and dessert. Proceeds benefit the church's youth group.
**St. Patrick's School, Newry** Offering a seafood buffet from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays during Lent, the menu includes baked and fried haddock, butterfly shrimp, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, pierogies, French fries, coleslaw, green beans, soup, roll, dessert, and beverage. Prices are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 60 and older, $10 for youth 5 to 12 years old, and free for children under 5.
