Here are the sports updates for the colleges and high schools in Blair County.

Colleges

  • Penn State Altoona: While there were no game results in the last 48 hours, the baseball team recently completed their regular season.

  • Pennsylvania Highlands Community College (Blair Center): The Black Bears Golf team is currently in their spring season (running through June), preparing for the upcoming Region 20 Championship.

High Schools

The spring season is in full swing with baseball, softball, and track and field leading the headlines:

Baseball

  • Bishop Guilfoyle: The Marauders faced Clearfield yesterday afternoon (May 7). Entering the game, the Marauders were looking for their first win of the season (0-9).

  • Central High School: The Scarlet Dragons secured a dominant 11-1 victory over Bedford on Tuesday evening. Mason Sparks led the way on the mound with 9 strikeouts, while Colton Porecca contributed a home run and a double.

  • Bellwood-Antis: The Blue Devils had a busy week. After a tough 15-1 loss to Huntingdon on Monday, they were scheduled to play Penn Cambria on Wednesday (May 6) and Philipsburg-Osceola yesterday (May 7).

  • Hollidaysburg Area SHS: The Golden Tigers fell to Bishop McCort 12-2 on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Hollidaysburg maintains a strong season record of 14-2.

  • Claysburg-Kimmel: The Bulldogs recently suffered a narrow loss where a late-game comeback fell just short, moving their focus toward upcoming conference play.

Track and Field

  • Altoona Area High School: At a recent home meet, the Mountain Lions saw standout performances from Noel and Owulade, who each secured two individual event wins.

  • Hollidaysburg, Tyrone, & Central: Athletes from these schools competed in the LHAC (Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference) championships this week. Notable mentions include Cherry and Emigh, who took top honors in jumping events.

Tennis (Boys)

  • Hollidaysburg & Tyrone: Both teams have been competing in the district playoffs. Hollidaysburg remains a top contender in the region following a successful regular season.
