Kids Turn Lemons into Lessons: How a Local Lemonade Stand Builds Real-Life Skills

With summer just around the corner, a local business is proving that a classic lemonade stand can be much more than a way to beat the heat — it can be the perfect launchpad for teaching kids valuable life skills.

On a recent episode of Studio 814, Maura Cruse and Alyssa Weyandt from Home & Harvest brought in a special young guest — Alyssa’s son, Benjamin Weyandt — to demonstrate how easy and fun it is to make fresh lemonade from scratch.

The segment offered a step-by-step, hands-on tutorial as Benjamin learned to squeeze fresh lemons, add the right amount of sugar and water, and mix in delicious house-made flavor syrups like strawberry and blueberry. Even though it was his first time making lemonade, Benjamin quickly got the hang of it, confidently mixing and shaking his own custom creation.
