Lane Restrictions Ahead: I-99 Drivers in Blair County Should Expect March Delays

PennDOT crews will perform daylight improvements between Newry and Tyrone through March 28.

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. — Drivers on Interstate 99 should plan for delays throughout March as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) continues improvement work in Blair County.

Starting Monday, March 2, lane restrictions will be in place between mile marker 26 in Blair Township and mile marker 33 near the 17th Street Exit. The work, spanning roughly 10 miles between Newry and Tyrone, is scheduled to continue until Saturday, March 28.

Crews from New Enterprise Stone and Lime, Inc. will handle the $26.6 million project, which includes highway markings, grading, delineation, sawing and sealing, and drainage upgrades near 17th Street. All work will take place during daylight hours.

PennDOT urges motorists to drive with caution, avoid distractions, and follow posted signs in construction areas. Travelers can get real-time updates on traffic conditions, weather, and camera feeds anytime at 511PA.com.
