Third Annual Bark in the Park Promises a Tail-Wagging Day of Entertainment, Vendors, and Community Spirit on May 16 |
A paws-itively great time is heading back to Blair County! The Newry Lions Club is thrilled to present the **third annual Bark in the Park** on **Saturday, May 16, 2026**, from **10 a.m. to 4 p.m.** at the Newry Lions Club Park. This free, family- and pet-friendly event invites everyone — two-legged and four-legged — to come together for a day filled with fun, entertainment, and community support. Dogs are welcome (and encouraged!) as long as they stay on a leash. “It’s an animal-friendly event filled with vendors, performances, and activities for people and pets of all ages,” said Marty Jo Irvin-Stellabotte of the Newry Lions Club. Attendees can expect more than **30 vendors** offering crafts, pet supplies, local organization booths, delicious food, and plenty of kids’ activities. A full lineup of entertainment will keep tails wagging and smiles wide all day long, including: - Demonstrations by **Shady Rock School for Dogs** A crowd favorite returns this year — the popular **kissing booth**, where dogs give out sweet kisses to raise funds. Last year, the booth alone brought in nearly $200. **New this year**, organizers are encouraging guests to bring gently used towels and blankets to donate to local animal shelters. Smokey Bear will also make a special appearance and help plant a tree at the park. All proceeds from Bark in the Park will support local animal rescue organizations as well as other worthy causes backed by the Newry Lions Club, including sight and service programs. The goal remains simple: create a joyful, pet-friendly day that brings the community together while giving back to meaningful local initiatives. “It’s a pet-friendly, people-friendly event,” Irvin-Stellabotte added. “We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the day, and support local organizations.” For the latest updates and details, find **Bark in the Park** on Facebook. Come for the dogs, stay for the fun — and help make a difference in the community! 🐾 |
