Railroad crossing maintenance and traffic updates in Blair County, PA |
Information on road closure and traffic detours during construction |
Motorists in Blair County should prepare for upcoming railroad crossing maintenance on Route 4023 (Tipton Road) in Tipton.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), in collaboration with Norfolk Southern Railroad, has announced a temporary road closure and detour to facilitate necessary repairs.
The closure is scheduled to occur for approximately two to three days between Monday, April 27, and Friday, May 1, 2026.
However, the exact dates remain uncertain, as they are contingent upon factors such as track availability, equipment functionality, and weather conditions.
During this period, drivers will be rerouted using BUS US 220 (Old US 220)/Route 1001 East Pleasant Valley Boulevard and Route 4025 (Grazierville Road).
Commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly to avoid potential delays.
For real-time updates on road conditions, PennDOT recommends utilizing the 511PA service, which offers traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras.
This service is available 24/7 through its website, smartphone applications for iPhone and Android devices, or by dialing 5-1-1.
As always, PennDOT urges drivers to exercise caution in all work zones.
It's essential to drive slowly, eliminate distractions, and stay alert for guidance from signage and flaggers.
By staying informed and vigilant, motorists can navigate these temporary changes safely and efficiently. |
