Blair County train travelers are getting a significant improvement in their options as a second daily Pennsylvanian passenger train prepares to launch November 18.

The additional service is designed to connect communities along the Pittsburgh-to-New York City corridor, with Altoona positioned as an important stop in the middle of the route.

For residents who rely on rail to reach family, appointments, colleges, or major cities, the expanded schedule means a trip no longer has to revolve around just one departure in each direction.

Officials announced the expansion at the Johnstown station in early October, highlighting a change that central Pennsylvania rail advocates have sought for years.
