👏 Local Shoutouts

Hall of Fame Honor for Local Legend Bob Moore
Altoona’s very own Bob Moore was honored this week as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame! A proud graduate of Saint Francis University, Bob has gone on to build a remarkable legacy as a public relations director and team historian for the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs. Even with all his success on the national stage, he has never forgotten his Blair County roots. Congratulations, Bob, for representing our community with such pride!

🫡 Local Heroes

Elementary Students Honor 9/11 First Responders and Everyday Heroes
The second-grade students in Summer Carson’s class at Frankstown Elementary spent time learning about courage, kindness, and community heroes. After reading Fireboat, a inspiring story about teamwork during crises, the students crafted American flags and wrote notes remembering firefighters, first responders, and ordinary neighbors who step up in tough times. It’s so heartening to see our young community members learning the true value of being everyday heroes!

The movement focuses on mental health advocacy, education in local schools, and supporting local families who have been affected by loss. It is an essential community effort dedicated to ensuring no one in Blair County feels alone in their struggles.

🎟️ Fundraisers

Morrison’s Cove Benefit Auction & Community Gathering
The annual Morrison’s Cove Benefit Auction brought neighbors together in Martinsburg for a day filled with delicious food, local craft auctions, and an impressive quilt auction! Funds raised during this community-favorite tradition go directly toward supporting specialized local medical care and health clinic services for area families in need. It’s always incredible to see the Cove come together for such a great cause.

  • Key Details: Held at the Morrison's Cove Memorial Park area, Martinsburg, PA. Visit the clinic website for ways to contribute or view auction results.
