Pennsylvania Expands Consumer Protection Outreach with June Events |
Free programs aim to help residents recognize scams and safeguard their finances |
The Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities (DoBS) will host a series of free educational events throughout June to help residents better protect themselves from financial fraud, scams, and identity theft. Led by the department’s Investor Education and Consumer Outreach team, these sessions are designed to equip seniors and the general public with practical tools to identify warning signs and avoid becoming victims. Participants will learn how to safeguard personal information, detect suspicious activity, and access trusted resources when concerns arise. Most events are open to the public and encourage community members to stay informed about evolving fraud tactics. Pennsylvanians seeking assistance or wishing to report scams can contact the department by calling 1-866-PACOMPLAINT, visiting pa.gov/consumer, or emailing consumer@pa.gov. One featured program, “Fraud BINGO,” offers an interactive way to learn about investment fraud through a familiar game format. Sessions will take place on June 12 in East Freedom and June 30 in Tyrone, both hosted by Blair Senior Services. These events provide an engaging and accessible way for older adults to strengthen their financial awareness and security. Click Here |
