Altoona Airport Launches Direct Summer Flights to Myrtle Beach |
New seasonal service offers Central Pennsylvania travelers a convenient coastal getaway |
Central Pennsylvania travelers will soon have a new, convenient way to reach the coast as Altoona-Blair County Airport introduces nonstop summer flights to Myrtle Beach. Beginning July 1, Contour Airlines will operate twice-weekly service on Wednesdays and Saturdays, offering a direct travel option for vacationers seeking sun and sand. Flights will depart Altoona at 1:15 p.m. and arrive in Myrtle Beach at 3:05 p.m. Return trips leave South Carolina at 3:45 p.m., landing back in Altoona at 5:35 p.m. The seasonal service will run through August 22, aligning with peak summer travel demand. Officials say the addition highlights the value of the local airport. Morgan Koziar of Discover Blair County called the new route a major benefit for families, noting it provides a stress-free and affordable alternative to larger, more distant airports. Passengers will travel aboard Contour’s 30-seat regional jets, which feature extra legroom along with complimentary snacks and beverages. Airline President Ben Munson said the service is designed to simplify summer travel and give residents easier access to one of the East Coast’s most popular beach destinations. |
