Route 36 Work to Cause Traffic Shifts in Blair County |
PennDOT project brings lane restrictions, minor delays through mid-July |
Drivers traveling northbound on Route 36 (South Logan Boulevard) in Blair County should prepare for minor delays and single-lane traffic over the next two weeks. Crews will also continue building temporary crossover lanes, which allow vehicles to shift into opposing lanes so work can be completed safely on one side of the roadway. These crossovers are part of preparations for a future drainage project near South Pine Street. PennDOT urges motorists to exercise caution in work zones by reducing speed, avoiding distractions, and following posted signs and flagger instructions. The work is part of a $5.4 million pavement preservation and drainage improvement project led by New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. The overall project is expected to be completed by October 2025. Planned improvements include resurfacing approximately 3.5 miles of Route 36 (Logan Boulevard), stretching from U.S. 22 (Blair Street) in Hollidaysburg to Route 1001 (Plank Road) in Altoona. Additional upgrades include culvert replacements, tree removal, and improvements to guide rails and signage across Hollidaysburg, Altoona, and surrounding townships including Frankstown, Allegheny, and Logan. Motorists are encouraged to “Know Before You Go” by checking real-time traffic conditions through PennDOT’s 511PA system. Travelers can access updates online, via the 511PA mobile app, or by dialing 511 for information on traffic delays, weather conditions, and live camera feeds. |
