Drivers in Blair County should expect traffic delays on Interstate 99 throughout March, as PennDOT continues major improvement work in the area.

Beginning Monday, March 2, lane restrictions will be enforced from mile marker 26 in Blair Township to mile marker 33 near the 17th Street Exit, stretching roughly 10 miles between Newry and Tyrone.

This $26.6 million project, managed by New Enterprise Stone and Lime, Inc., covers highway markings, grading, new delineation, sawing, sealing, and essential drainage upgrades near the busy 17th Street corridor.

All construction will take place during daylight hours through Saturday, March 28.

PennDOT urges motorists to drive carefully, remain alert, and obey posted signs through work zones. Travelers are encouraged to check for updated road conditions and traffic information online.

The Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders captured the District 6 Class 3A boys' basketball title with a dominant 74-54 win over the rival Forest Hills Rangers at Mount Aloysius College.

After trailing by a point at halftime, Bishop Guilfoyle outpaced Forest Hills 42-21 in the second half, overturning recent heartbreaks in district and conference play.

Senior Taurean Consiglio scored 19 points, while Tyson Lestochi added 18, and sophomore Alex Krimmel led with 20.

The Marauders’ accuracy from beyond the arc—sinking 12 of 19—proved too much for the Rangers.

Forest Hills’ Dylan Stohon tallied 27 points, but lacked support.

Coach Ryan Lestochi celebrated the seniors’ first district crown, fueling momentum as Bishop Guilfoyle hosts Ligonier Valley in the PIAA tournament.

The victory deepens a thrilling Blair County hoops rivalry.

Here is PJ, a male cat.

Hello there! The names PJ! I am around 5 years old and the most handsome boy!! I was brought to the shelter as a stray with a bad upper respiratory infection, but the nice doctor fixed me up with antibiotics so now l am ready to find my forever home! You may have noticed l am missing half of my back leg.

I came to the shelter like that. Doctor Kayla said I may have been born that way or possibly an injury that healed on its own while I was living on the streets. It doesn't hold me back though! I do have one tiny request. If you could please help me scratch under my chin and ear on my left side since I'm not able to do it on my own. I will be ever so grateful! I am a little shy at first meeting new people, but I warm up quickly and my staff tell me l am the just the sweetest boy!

I take interest in the other cats around me so another cat in the home who isn't too crazy would probably be ok. No dogs for me! I have not been around small children so that would be on a case-by-case basis, but older kids will be fine. am just a little scared being picked up at times due to my leg. If you think I would be the perfect fit for your home, please complete an application!

Application: Cat Adoption Application
** PJ is in our care in Altoona PA. She is available for adoption. The adoption fee is $60. Each animal gets microchipped, spayed/neutered, 4DX tested (if over 6 months of age), flea treated, and vaccinated. The adoption fee covers those costs. Adoption fees are listed on the application. An application must be filled out in order to visit with any dog or cat. They can be found on our website www.centralpahumane.org. Do not click on “browse our pets.” Applications are also available at the shelter. Our animals are posted on Facebook and Petfinder - only when time permits. A Petfinder inquiry is not an application, and they may not be responded to. We can only accept so many applications for each animal. We do adopt out of state, but we cannot hold the animal. **

PA Kennel License #1333.

Please give PJ the forever home he deserves!
